Garema Place and Civic Square, Canberra City

Activities:
From 7pm, Civic Square will have a range of family friendly entertainment including headlining act, Ian Moss. Other local acts that will be performing include Heuristic and The Bridge Between. Fireworks will commence at 9pm –a perfect opportunity for parents to bring their children along to enjoy!

From 9pm, the Bass in the Place dance party will feature in the city centre, with DJ’s including DJ Rush, DJ Rawson, DJ Chris Fraser and VJ Insan3. To complete the night and commence the new year, there will be a final fireworks display at Midnight.

How to get there:

  • By bus: ACTION Buses will operate on a normal Saturday timetable, with the Nightrider service also available.
  • By car: There will be parking available on the night around the Civic area. Please be aware there will be some road closures so you will need to take alternate routes.

Road Closures:
Between 5pm and approximately 2am, London Circuit, between Akuna Street and Petrie Street will be closed, including Ainslie Avenue. Multiple intersections and traffic lights will be affected along Northbourne Ave (Cooyong St to London Cct) during the 9pm and midnight fireworks displays.

Food & Drink:
There will be food and drink facilities available on site, but feel free to bring a picnic along if you would prefer.

What to bring:

  • Wear comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Plastic bottles and cans (avoid glass)
  • Drinking water
  • A picnic - including food and beverage (if you prefer)
  • Rugs, blankets for seating

Please do not bring – alcohol, glass products, sparklers, tents, animals, inflatable furniture

NOTE - Both the Civic Square and Garema Place events are alcohol-free to encourage a safe and friendly atmosphere.
